Welcome to the IUBDC Jerry Garland Award for Excellence in Supplier Diversity!

The award recognizes and honors individuals who have demonstrated exceptional results in advancing the practice of diversity and inclusion. Examples may include, but are not limited to, building community awareness of diversity initiatives, engaging with diverse businesses, communicating opportunities to potential partner businesses, serving as examples and role models for others, or overcoming obstacles or barriers to inclusion.

Below are some helpful details to get you started on your Jerry Garland Award entry.



  • Nominate an individual demonstrating excellence in supplier diversity through October 1
The winner of the Jerry Garland Award for Excellence in Supplier Diversity will be profiled in the IUBDC newsletter, online and on social media, and recognized at an award luncheon, Dec. 4, in Chicago. So, submit an entry today!
  • Entry Guidelines
Applicants must complete the official entry form electronically at by the October 1 deadline.
  • Who’s Eligible?
The award is open to individuals from any business, nonprofit or governmental organization in Illinois. Members of the IUBDC are also eligible to apply. Self-nominations will be accepted.



Nominations submitted after the October 1 deadline will be considered for the next year’s selection.
